Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi on Thursday urged the All Assam Students’ Union’s (AASU) to take a firm stand against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the aftermath of the controversy over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Addressing the media, Akhil Gogoi said, “During the time of the Citizenship Bill ruckus, KMSS along with 70 organizations and AASU all decided to vote against BJP during the election. Even the AASU chief said he would go from village to village to urge people not to vote for BJP. But till now, the AASU has not taken any step towards their commitment. Even AASU leaders joined the BJP party but there was no action was taken against that."
Gogoi also mentioned that the stand of AASU needs to be cleared as soon as possible. Moreover, he urged the people of Assam not to vote for the BJP party.
It may be mentioned that the peasant leader has resolved to oppose the AGP-BJP-BPF alliance at all costs.
