Naba Sarania, the MP who represents Kokrajhar in the Lok Sabha, has shockingly claimed that Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary had had his wife attacked for political reasons.
Addressing the press here earlier today, Sarania said that the BPF party will not win a single seat, and further alleged that Hagrama had planned an attack on his wife. "Now I doubt that Hagrama had planned the attack on his wife for political interest". Sarania further added, referring to a recent incident in Hagrama's wife, Seuli, was reportedly attacked with stones in Kokrajhar.
"We have kept the doors open for anyone willing to join us. We have come here to take decisions for the betterment of the public. The numerous parties, national or regional, they are either BTAD/BTC supporter or they are there on behalf of the government" the Kokrajhar MP argued.
Taking potshots at former All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) leader Promod Boro, Sarania said that his party will now compete with him since he has signed the BTR Accord. "If Pramod Boro had spoken with us before the signing of Bodo Accord then we could've accommodated him with us. But since they played it on behalf of the government, we can't do it now. We will compete with them."
Tensions have ratcheted up between the different political units in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) ahead of the elections in the Council to be held sometime in April.
Naba Sarania's Gana Suraksha Party is challenging the current holders, the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) in a three-way contest, that will also see strong contention by the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), recently bolstered by the addition of firebrand student leader Promod Boro. Meanwhile, the AGP, BJP, and Congress are also expected to play key roles in the polls.
BPF Chief, Hagrama Mohilary recently announced that his party along with BJP and AGP will be contesting in 40 seats. BPF has already declared candidates’ list for 15 constituencies. Accordingly, UPPL along with ABSU and NDFB will also contest for the 40 seats. Sarania, meanwhile, has announced that his party will contest in all of the 40 seats
