UPPL: Noted social activist,former president of All Bodo Students Union(ABSU),former vice president of
Boro Thunlai Afad Dipak Kumar Basumatary and former AASAA leader Akila Purty formally joins
the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) at a party meeting held at Medhaghat in Baksa district on Thursday.
Basumatary was the president of ABSU in the year 1982-83 and dedicated his services for the upliftment of the society.
He was also the Vice President in the Boro Think Afad (Bodo Sahitya Sabha) for two years and contributed a lot towards the Bodo literary world.

He has joined the UPPL party amidst the presence of party chief Pramod Boro,ex MP and senior UPPL leader UG Brahma.

After joining the UPPL party, Basumatary said that "people in the BTR region are wanting Parivartan and massive
development and accordingly citizens from all walks of life are extending support for the top candidates across the council region."
UPPL president Pramod Boro said that citizens across the districts in BTAD are coming forward to
extend support and voting rights favouring the UPPL party candidates in the approaching council elections.
He also promised that if they win the BTR elections, the party would focus only on the welfare and development of the district and the society.
