The incident has been reported at a time when the KMSS' primary leaders -- Akhil Gogoi and Dhairjya Konwar -- have been put behind bars for alleged links to "maoist" rebels.

The imprisonment of Gogoi and the other leaders has been frowned upon by students across the country and there is a growing clamour for the release of Gogoi and the other political prisoners. Recently, the demand to release Gogoi reached the grounds of the renowned Eiffel Tower in Paris where supporters unfurled a banner demanding the firebrand KMSS leader's release.
