Speaking to InsideNe, Amarendra Das, Professor of Department of Design, IIT Guwahati said, “The leopard has created a panic amongst the students though there is no direct threat to them. The porcupine is at the backyard of my official quarter and the leopard should be around to hunt it.”
The forest department have been called in to tranquilize the animal. A big number of officials from the department are camping in the institute campus to capture it.
It may be mentioned that this is not the first time that leopard has strayed into the institute’s campus. Similar incidents were reported in January and July this year.
