Locals clash with cops at Uzanbazar

Guwahati (Assam), September 9, 2018:

Some locals of Uzanbazar on Saturday night clashed with the police and damaged three police vehicles.

According to reports, when a police team went to the area to arrest a man, the locals allegedly intercepted the personnel leading to a heated exchange of words. Soon, as the policemen were trying to control the situation, they allegedly came under attack from the locals who also damaged three vehicles belonging to the cops.

The locals alleged that the police had been harassing them for the past few days without any rhyme or reason. They accused the policemen of misbehaving with them and damaging their property.

The police, however, rubbished the charges. They said the locals had destroyed the property themselves to frame the police team.
