Amid the nationwide lockdown that has now entered its third phase, the administration of Dibrugarh district in Assam has laid down a new set of rules and regulations.
The administration of the district has directed that all shops should be kept closed on Sundays except for pharmacies, clinical establishments, and petrol pumps. At the same time, the owners of all business establishments have been directed to ensure observation of social distancing. Failure to comply shall result in action against the shop owner.

Meanwhile, the district administration has approved the plans submitted by New Market and HS Road business organisations regarding opening of one-third shops during lockdown 3.0.
The other business organisations, at the same time, have also been encouraged to submit their plans on May 5 regarding the opening of one-third of the shops. The shops can only be opened subject to the approval of district administration.
Meanwhile, the administration has promised strict action against the violation of rules in respect of numbers of passengers allowed in commercial as well as private vehicles and violation of the norms "will lead to seizure of the vehicles."
In an official circular, it was appraised that the applications for emergency inter-state travel by private vehicles can be submitted to the Deputy Commissioners' office or through email to dc-dibrugarh@nic.in providing contact numbers and other details minimum 48 hours prior to journey. "The district administration will respond to the applications at the earliest"

It is pertinent to mention here that these decisions were taken in a meeting presided by the Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh, Pallav Gopal Jha in the presence of several other high-ranking officials in connection with the implementation of the guidelines during the third phase of the lockdown.
