The counting of votes of the Lok Sabha election 2019 is about to get underway as the polling officials will begin the process at 8 am on Thursday, 23 May.
All eyes will be on the results of the 542 Lok Sabha Seats today as all preparations have been made across the nation to find out who are the winners in this greatest festival of democracy.
It may be mentioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had swept the 2014 election by winning 282 seats and becoming the first party to win a majority in decades. The exit polls have claimed a similar story this time around as well, but many experts predict that it is too close to call as of yet.
The poll of polls indicates that the BJP may lose some seats in Uttar Pradesh but would gain seats in key battleground state of West Bengal as well as Odisha.
Meanwhile, Amethi and Varanasi, where BJP leader Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are contesting from will be the cynosure of everyone's attraction.
The fate of celebrity politicians like Shatrughan Sinha, Sunny Deol, Gautam Gambhir, Urmila Matondkar, et al, shall also be of interest to the common masses.
The election is also expected to be closely fought in the twenty-five Northeastern constituencies as the 2019 election has been affected by violence and other disturbances in many regions. In Arunachal Pradesh, for instance, a sitting NPP MLA, Tirong Aboh was killed along with members of his family by militants.
Although exit polls suggest a slim margin of victory for the BJP and its allies, the resentment over the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is also expected to play a major role in the Northeast states.
So fasten your seatbelts, grab a cup of Assamese chai and get ready for a thrilling contest ahead.
