Lurinjyoti Gogoi says BJP bought vote with PMKSN fund

GUWAHATI: Assam Jatiya Parishad(AJP), a regional party in Assam on Saturday has claimed that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) bought vote in Assam with the fund allotted under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Gogoi said, though the scheme was announced on December 1, 2018, in Assam, the BJP started disbursing funds to fake beneficiaries from November 2020 to March 2021. He claimed the state BJP, used the fund to buy votes for the Assembly polls that started on March 27 this year.

The President of AJP, Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Friday said that there was no similarity between the data provided by Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, the data submitted in the Loksabha and data procured through Right to Information Act regarding the scam.

The Minister Atul Bora, on July 5 has stated that out of the 36 lakhs beneficiaries of the scheme in Assam, 11.72 lakhs have been found ineligible.

A sum of Rs 6000 per farmer was granted under the PMKSN scheme all over the country for the financial year 2019- 20.

Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Gogoi, who also contested the Assam assembly election this year, said, “Out of the 42 lakhs fake beneficiaries of the scheme across India, 8.32 lakhs are from Assam which constitutes 19.8% of the total.

He also claimed out of the total fund distributed among the fake beneficiaries, Golaghat, the home district of Agriculture Minister Atul Bora stands in second position.

He criticized the government for not revealing district-wise data of fake beneficiaries and amount of funds released to them.
