MAHARASHTRA GOVT INITIATES INVESTIGATION INTO PAPON ISSUE

In a recent development, the Maharashtra government has directed the Ministry of State Women and Child Welfare to investigate into the matter of popular singer Papon kissing a minor girl. Meanwhile, the Ministry has discussed the issue with the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai and asked him to initiate an investigation into the matter soon.

It may be mentioned that the controversy began after the popular singer was seen in a video celebrating Holi with the young contestants at the set of a reality show. The video showed Papon applying colour to a contestant and later kissing her. The video had gone viral in the social media.

A Supreme Court lawyer Runa Bhuyan had earlier filed a complaint against Papon with National Commission for Protection of Child Rights for allegedly kissing the minor.
