GUWAHATI: The Maharshi Vidyamandir school in Guwahati's Sipukhri locality has been shut from April 1 to April 22 following the detection of a COVID-19 positive case.
The district administration of Kamrup (Metro) has taken this step after a teacher named Mousumi Sarma tested positive. Following this, the school authorities decided to close its doors for two days.

Meanwhile, the teachers who came in contact with Mousumi Sarma have been instructed to undergo the COVID-19 test.
The school will conduct classes online during this period.
Assam has placed fresh restrictions on attendance in public transport, Bihu events, schools, offices, gatherings and ordered markets to close at 6 pm in the evening.
