Mahur Town Committee Office Set on Fire in Opposition to Appointment of BJP Member as Chairman

Haflong, September 24, 2019:

Some unidentified miscreants on Sunday night set fire to the Mahur Town Committee office in opposition to the appointment of Anup Langthasa, a BJP member, as the Chairman of Mahur Town Committee.

Party workers opposed his appointment and it is suspected that miscreants had committed the arson in the aftermath of the clashes and disagreements.

However, Rahul Naiding who has been elected from Mahur constituency as MAC of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), mentioned that the third party had taken the advantage of party clash. All documents and the office building were engulfed in flames and were destroyed.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Shreejit T gave assurance that all the accused will be arrested soon. The police recovered two cans which were used for committing the arson (inflammable liquid) at the site of the incident.
