Guwahati, December 19, 2018:

Migratory birds have descended on Majuli, adding to the bio-diversity in the region. The largest-inhabited river island of the world and cultural hub of Assam, which is famous for its Sattras and unique culture, has now found another tourist attraction in the form of birds.

From early November, the pits, wetlands, tanks and open fields of Majuli reverberate with the sounds of local as well as migratory birds. Tourists as well as photography enthusiasts are now flocking the island in droves to witness this beauty of nature.

The winters have witnessed migratory birds from Africa, Siberia and many other foreign countries arriving in Majuli in large numbers.
