The conflict between man and beast (in this case, elephants), continues in Assam. This time, the site of the conflict was near the Indo-Bhutan border in Udalguri district of Assam.
One youth, who has been identified as Joychan Kujur, was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Nonoipara tea estate in the state at 10:30 pm at night, while he was headed towards his place of work. He was employed as a night watchman at the estate. According to reports, he died instantly after being trampled by the elephant.
"We condemn the Forest Minister as well as the local Forest Department and we have sent for them, but they are yet to respond", said a local, from the site of the incident. Locals have also sought monetary compensation for the kin of the departed.
