IMPHAL: N Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur, has made a passenger train service re-operational in the presence of Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Patil between Manipur and Assam for better connectivity.

The train service will make the connectivity between Jiribam and Silchar re-operational.

The flagging off ceremony was held through video conference in Imphal in the presence of State ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior officials from Railways and Manipur government.

Train no 05659 will start from Silchar every Monday and Thursday at 7-00 AM to reach Jiribam at 8-55 AM whereas train no 05660 will start from Jiribam at 1-30 PM to reach Silchar at 3-30 PM.

The trains will comprise of 8 general class compartments and 2 luggage-cum-guard vans and to stop at seven stations during its journey.

The train service on this route was suspended with effect from June 7, 2019.
