Manipur beefs up security along border with Assam to screen illegal migrants

Manipur, February 25, 2019:

As per the directions of Manipur’s DGP to secure the inter-state border between Assam and Manipur, the District Police of Manipur’s Jiribam district and commandos have been instructed to be more alert and to carry out continuous sanitisation patrols.

More effective checking of passengers coming into Jiribam on train as well as entry of illegal immigrants via FCP gate will be more strongly regulated as per the new norms. Also, security will be beefed up and police have been directed to be present along the inter-state border including Jiri- Barak River waterways.

The police  personnel have also been instructed to keep sharp vigil around the clock and check  all the vulnerable areas. Police beat in Jiribam as well as biker patrol teams have been revamped for effective patrolling and surveillance.
