NEW DELHI: Manipur’s Chandel district topped the list of aspirational districts which have recorded the most improved performance in June ranked by government think tank Niti Aayog FOR.
Sahibganj (Jharkhand) and Firozpur (Punjab) were placed second and third, respectively, according to the Niti Aayog.
Chandel, which is located in the country's easternmost region and shares more than 100 kilometres of open, porous international border with Myanmar, climbed from 30th to first rank in the February rankings.
The fourth and fifth places, respectively are Dhubri (Assam) and Kiphire (Nagaland).

Over 112 aspirational districts showed incremental improvement across six developmental categories in June 2021, as measured by the delta rankings.
Authorities in Chandel district employed local transporters to restart anganwadi centres in outlying locations along the IndoMyanmar border in order to assist youngsters and pregnant women in meeting their nutritional needs.
Local transporters are prepared to tackle and overcome difficulties like as insurgency and poor roads, which centrally recruited transporters regard as serious obstacles.
Under the Van Dhan Yojana, Chandel was successful in providing assistance to tribals.
The Centre started the aspirational districts plan in 2018 to bring development to 112 of the country's poorest districts.
The initiative is led by the government think tank Niti Aayog, which works with both the state and central government.
Healthcare, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure are the five key issues.
