Assam Health &Family Welfare, Finance and Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday made it clear that many sitting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators may not get party tickets in the ensuing 2021 state assembly polls.

Sarma said that the candidates will change as the saffron party does not look at anyone’s face and assessment is done through several processes. He further stated that candidate in the party are selected through a series of surveys and other thorough assessments. He again expressed confidence that the party will sweep the assembly election by winning more than 100 seats.

It may be mentioned that Assam is going for assembly polls early next year. All parties have already started preparing for the polls. The Congress is looking to forge an alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and other regional parties. On the other hand the all powerful students’ body the All Assam Students’ Union is likely to come up with a political party and contest the 2021 assembly polls.

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has also announce that they will float a regional party and contest the assembly elections with its chief adviser Akhil Gogoi as the chief ministerial candidate.
