Margherita College AASU unit demands provincialization of science stream

Margherita, September 17, 2019:

All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Margherita College unit on Tuesday staged a 2-hour sit in demonstrate at North Margherita Rangamancha demanding provincialisation of the science stream of Margherita College.

President Kamal Sherpa and Secretary Pankaj Konwar of Margherita College, AASU unit said, “Margherita College was established in the year 1978 where Science Stream was included in the year 1997 at Margherita college. Since then 23 years passed but Margherita college science stream has not been provincialized which is very unfortunate.”

“Margherita College falls under Tinsukia district and students from neighbouring state like Arunachal Pradesh come to study but still Assam government has been ignorant it,” Kamal Sherpa added.

The AASU unit demanded the Assam Government to immediately provincialized the Science Stream of Margherita college and submitted a memorandum to Margherita SDO (Civil).

Margherita college is affiliated with the Dibrugarh University. This college offers general degree courses in science, arts and commerce.
