Guwahati, March 9, 2019:

Martyred CRPF jawan Moneswar Basumatary’ daughter Didwmsri on Thursday officially joined duty as an Assistant Tourist Information Officer under the Directorate of Tourism, Assam, a post that she was offered by Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal. Sonowal had given the appointment letter to the martyr’s daughter during his ‘Adya Shraddha’ ceremony held at his residence at Tamulpur in Baksa District.

Didwmsri, along with mother Sanmati and relatives, reached the Panbazar-situated Tourism Office to officially join duty as in the designated post. The contingent first visited Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma at Assam Secretariat before Didwmsri joined the Tourism Department as an Officer.

Speaking during the occasion, Didwmsri said: “I will try not to lose the respect and honor earned by my father due to the sacrifices that he has made. I will pay homage to my father by working towards the betterment of the country and my people.”

It is to be mentioned that Moneswar Basumatary was martyred when a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant rammed an SUV laden with explosives into a vehicle belonging to a CRPF convoy. 40 CRPF troopers including Basumatary were martyred during the incident.
