A special court of National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday awarded death penalty to two rebels of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in a mass killings case of 2014.
According to NIA, Bishnu Narzary alias N Berama and Ajoy Basumatary alias Buhum were sentenced to death while two other rebels Nitul Daimary alias D Naihab and Sanju Bordoloi alias Sibigiri were sentenced to life imprisonment.
It may be recalled that in December 2014, the NDFB insurgents had fired indiscriminately at Santipur village under Rakhakmari police outpost in Sonitpur district, killing six persons and injuring two others.
In this connection, the NIA, which probed the incident, registered a case under various Sections of IPC and Arms Act.
The charge-sheet was filed by NIA on July 22, 2015 against them.
