The streets of Assam once again echoed with “We Won’t Accept CAA” as the All Assam Students’ union (AASU) carried out a torchlight rally to display the state’s continued resistance against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA.

People from different parts of the state took out protest rallies to oppose CAA. In Guwahati, the torchlight rally witnessed strong participation of people from different walks of life. Led by AASU chief Samujjal Bhattacharya, the protest rally against the CAA reiterated the state’s resentment for CAA.

Samujjal Bhattacharya said, "This Andolan is to protect the culture and language of Assam. We will continue until they scrap CAA. Forced implementation of CAA is anti-national, granting citizenship to foreigners is anti-national."
Continuing the resistance movement against the Government's amendment of the Citizenship Act, the locals of Jorhat, led by several indigenous organizations, also staged a massive torchlight rally today.
Organized by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP), and the artiste and intellectual communities, the rally began from JB College, and after making it's way through Garh Ali and KB Road, once again reached JB College.

The protesters were seen shouting anti-Government slogans and decrying the divisive legislation that uses religion as a basis to grant citizenship.
One of the protesters, a woman, called for unity among the people amid the divisive nature of the times to ensure the success of the agitation. Stating that the CAA poses severe hazards the culture and identity. “My only appeal, especially to the youth, is that faith on each other will become the need of the hour. And we will also need unity.”
Nagaon locals also staged a torchlight rally on Saturday to protest against CAA.
