AIZAWL: Dr. ZR Thiamsanga, MLA from Mizoram, was conferred the 'Best Citizens of India' award by the International Publishing House in recognition of his service to society.
"He has successfully operated more than 3,000 major operations not only his Specialization Obs&Gynea cases but also like perforation of the stomach, acute appendicitis, amputation of legs and Arms due to trauma, even splenic rapture under open ether. He has extensively travelled and conducts free clinic and health Awareness Campaign for the needy people and those people who could not enjoy better medical facilities in so many remote areas of Mizoram," read a part of the certificate given to ZR Thiamsanga by The International Publishing House.

The doctor turned Politician ZR Thiamsanga is a legislator from the Champhai North constituency of Mizoram. He is an MBBS and MD (Obs&Gynea) from RMC Imphal under Manipur University.
He holds the post of Vice-Chairman, Health and Family Welfare Board, Mizoram and he is also Co-Chairman, Mizoram Health Care Society. Besides these prestigious posts, he also holds the post of Vice-Chairman, Mizoram Cooperative Development Council.
Thiamsanga was felicitated by the Governor of Mizoram S Sreedharan Pillai last year for saving the lives of a pregnant woman and her baby by performing an emergency caesarean, as reported.
