Aizawl: The Youth wing of Mizoram's ZPM party today claimed that the current issues at the border have started due to Assam officials. Issuing a statement today, the ZPM youth slammed the DC of Cachar, the DFO, and Additional DG (Law & Order), for "instigating unrest in the area to gain a political foothold, in light of the upcoming State Elections in Assam, next year."

"Despite this fact, the Assam officials, instead of apologizing to the people of Mizoram, publicize flimsy explanations to the Press which we, the ZPM Party Youth find unacceptable," the party said, issuing a statement.

The ZPM's youth wing has urged the Assam officials to avoid politicizing the border issue and perform their rightful duties as government officials.

"Furthermore, we would like to apprise the Assam officials to cease activities within Mizoram, and to remove the Assam police from there to quit their patrolling immediately," the communique further states.

We hereby apprise the officials of Assam to provide incontrovertible evidence for this accusation."

The ZPM Party Youth in it's statement urged the Assam officials to "stop violating the Constitution by instigating unrest in the area, and to apologize to the Mizo people."

"It is the sole right and duty of the Mizoram police to surveil and be stationed within Mizoram; a right which the Assam officials do not have.
