TINSUKIA: A police constable was attacked by a mob in Assam's Tinsukia district here.
The video of the police officer being attacked by a mob has gone viral on social media.
The police constable has been identified as Mayur Ranjan Das.
The incident took place at Dihingia Chariali on the outskirts of the district on Sunday evening while he was returning to Makum 2nd Assam Police Battalio headquarter after finishing his duty, said police on Monday.
Ranjan Das was attacked by the mob when both the mob and Das was having curry at a hotel on the side of the road and got into an argument over wearing masks and halmet with the group of youths who were drunk, according to reports.

When one of the accused claimed that they were not drunken and were only having curry, the other said that they got into an argument after questioning the police constable about why he didn't wear a mask.
A police team led by Diganta Sonowal, in-charge of Panitola police station, arrested the three accused among the five while two accused managed to escape.
However, the other two accused will be arrested shortly, said Diganta Sonowal.
The accused has been identified as -- Bhaskar Gohain, Kiran Gohain, Kaushik Goahin, Bhabesh Gohain and Sourabh Dutta.
