As many as nine persons have been arrested and sent to judicial custody in relation to the incident that happened on Friday in Assam’s Hailakandi district.
Four youths were grievously injured after a group of people attacked them. Three of them were beaten up under suspicion of being child abductors. A police constable was also injured in the mob attack. So far six persons have been picked for interrogation.

The persons, alleged to be kidnappers, were rescued by the Assam Police and CRPF personnel amidst mob violence.
Massive operation has been on at Laskar Bazaar and Nitainagar following the mob violence in which several security personnel was injured as informed by Hailakandi SP, Pabindra Kumar Nath.
A case has been registered at Hailakandi Police Station with Case No 1131/19 under section 341/364/511/34 of the IPC.

It may be mentioned here that a furious mob also set fire to the vehicle in which the victims were travelling. They were halted by the villagers, who suspected them to be kidnappers. The villagers thrashed all the four youth and later set their vehicle on fire.
