Modi is a ‘Dictator”, claims Assam's former CM Tarun Gogoi

Guwahati, April 19, 2019:

Assam’s Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to impose Hitlerian Rule in the country while reacting to the inquiry set by the Ministry of Home Affairs on four journalists of Assam based on a complaint filed by some Rashtriya Swayamsevak Seva (RSS) member claiming the four are involved in spreading militant ideology in the state.

Addressing the media, Tarun Gogoi said, “This is what they are doing. They’re trying to silent the top journalists be it Ajit Bhuyan, Nitumani Saikia, Manjit Mahanta, or Afrida Hussain. The effort to curb freedom of the press is a bad signal for a country and implies dictatorship. Modi is a dictator and applying Hitler’s ideology in the country. The four journalists are not “Deshdrohis” (anti-nationals). To oppose the Modi government doesn’t mean being anti-national, even though the Deputy Prime Minister of India, LK Advani has said those who criticize Modi are not anti-national.”

Questioning how these people can be 'anti-national' Gogoi said, “Same has happened with our Hiren Gohain. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, they can file a case against us. If such things continue, where will the freedom of speech, freedom of press and freedom of liberty go? This is a misfortune for the state and shows that the current administration are fascists.”

"What does the RSS want They want ‘Ekanayakatabaad’, they praise Hitler. Now, Modi is trying to exercise Hitlerism", he added.
