Chief Minister of West Bengal and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday took Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to task over his alleged involvement in Saradha ponzi scam and demanded his immediate arrest.
Mamata Banerjee visited the state to campaign for the party’s Dhubri candidate, Nurul Islam Choudhury for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a public rally of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Dhubri, Mamata Banerjee said that she has enough evidence against Himanta. She added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah should take action Himanta Biswa Sarma and arrest him immediately. The owner of Saradha Group, Sudipto Sen had paid Rs 3 crore.”
The TMC supremo also used the National Register of Citizens (NRC) as her tool for the campaign. She claimed that exclusion of 40 lakh people in the NRC final draft is a conspiracy to evict Bengalis and Biharis from Assam.
