BHURAGAON: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, today paid a visit to the family members of the minor girl from a religious minority community who was raped and murdered on June 20 in Bhuragaon, Morigaon district.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma met the parents of the 9-year-old victim and assured them that the perpetrators of this heinous crime would be apprehended as soon as possible and would undergo strict punishment.

Taking stock of the ongoing investigation, CM Sarma instructed the superintendent of police (SP), Morigaon to expedite investigations and nab the culprits.
The chief minister said that the family should get justice fast and it should act as a deterrent against the commission of a crime against women.
Taking to Twitter CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, "Every life is precious! What happened in Bhuragaon, Morigaon to a religious minority 9-yr-old girl was very unfortunate. I met with the parents of the girl & assured them that perpetrators of this heinous crime won't be spared. We'll not tolerate such atrocities."

MP Dilip Saikia, MLAs Asif Mohammad Nagar, and Ramakanta Deuri also accompanied CM Sarma.
The incident took place on June 20.
She was raped and brutally killed by unidentified men and later the body of the 9-year-old girl was recovered from a roadside jute field in Balidonga village under Bhuragaon police station in the district.
