Mother-son duo killed in elephant attack in Goalpara

Goalpara (Assam), September 21, 2018:

In a tragic incident, a mother along with her two-year-old son was killed in an elephant attack in Goalpara on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Rashmi Rai and her son Kiran Magar. The incident took place early in the morning when their village was invaded by the elephant named ‘Laden’.

Locals alleged that the elephant had been regularly “invading” their village and used to destroy their property. On Friday morning the elephant attacked the mother and son when it came into the village in search of food.

The department has been informed about the incident but the locals have alleged that the forest department has not taken any proper actions against the elephant invasion.
