Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, during a special discussion on the role of Rajya Sabha in Indian polity and the way forward, and said that the problems of the Northeast, such as the insurgency problem, should be discussed in the Upper House of the Parliament.

The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) firebrand said that in the last 5 years, he felt that the issues of the Northeast should be discussed at the Rajya Sabha. "I am from the Northeastern region in India, and there are many pressing issues there, these issues should be discussed at length at the Rajya Sabha", he stated.

Daimary said that the isolated places' in far-flung areas in the Northeast need solutions. "Take the issue of the 50-year-long insurgency problem in the Northeast, for instance. To raise these issues, multiple MPs should sign up. A single MP cannot raise these issues", he said.
Celebrating the renewed importance of the Rajya Sabha in the functioning of the country, Daimary said, "In the last 5 years, I was starting that there was no longer for the Rajya Sabha. It is because whatever happened in the Lok Sabha, happened in the Rajya Sabha as well. The issues raised there leading to adjournment would see a similar atmosphere here. Here, it was even more. There was no proper discussion regarding any Bill."
