Following the recent wrath of people showing Black Flag to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs and MPs in different parts of the state, a new controversy popped up as Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made provoking remarks targeting a particular minority community.
Speaking to InsideNE, on the very topic, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi alleged that Muslims are the second class citizens of this country as per the ideology of Rashtriya Swanyamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP government.
Tarun Gogoi said, “According to them, the Muslims have no rights; they are the second class citizens which are called the Harijans. They have destroyed the communal harmony between Hindus and the Muslims which has been shared in Assam since past. This is the main aim of this polarised government.”
“They just talk of Hindu Rastra and till this ideology is retained, there will be rift amongst all religion. They are trying to push the same policy as in the rest of India. In Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma is showing more loyalty towards RSS. Everyone has the right to show the black flag in a democratic way, we were also shown black flags, and there is no ban in it until and unless it turns violent,” he added.
