My fight is for Greater Tipraland, for rest state you may import CM even from Tamil Nadu: Pradyot Manikya

GUWAHATI: Tripura royal scion and Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya DebBarma has arrived in Guwahati to meet and address regional party Assam Jatiya Parishad, which claimed to be for the first time a regional party from Tripura has received any such invitation.

The meet was organised in view of a united Northeast by bringing all regional parties of the region to one forum for the interest of its indigenous people fighting for their 'identity and dignity'.

"We have set our aim for a Greater Tipraland which is very well within the framework of Indian constitution. The indigenous people of Tripura have suffered immensely for the last 70 years and the imposition of the Citizenship Amendment Act was the final stroke. Assam and Tripura have been clubbed different from the rest of the country and our case is still pending in the Supreme Court," said Pradyot Manikya.

Manikya added, "Delimitation to start from 2026 again. If we do not unite before that then there will be nothing left for our people and the entire civilisation of the indigenous people of Tripura will be wiped out."

"I appeal to all the regional parties if you do not want another Tripura then you should probably help the people of Tripura to fight back," Manikya appealed.

Manikya, as a gesture of appreciation towards the Assamese people, asserted to erect a statue of legendary Ahom commander Lachit Borphukan of Assam in Tripura.

Pradyot Manikya also clarified his stand on forming an alliance with any political party and said that he would need a written statement from the parties about their demands. Manikya also denied having any discussion with Bharatiya Janata Party national General Secretary Dilip Saikia and said he had not even met Saikia in his life.

"I am not in politics to make fool out of my indigenous people by making a political alliance without any written assurance," Manikya expressed.

On asked whether Trinamool Congress to make Sushmita Dev the next Chief Minister of Tripura, Manikya replied, "My fight is for a greater Tipraland, my own land and its people. For the rest of the state you may import Chief Minister from Tamil Nadu and Maharasthra, if we do not have any local leadership, I have no problem. This is India and anybody has the right to become so."

"It's about giving it a shot and we will give it a shot. Now we are just 15 months away," said Manikya.
