The alleged Naga aggression along Assam-Nagaland border at B sector in Golaghat district of Assam continues unabated.
So much so that, public sector energy giant ONGC has stopped drilling two oil rigs along the inter-state border between Assam and Nagaland in Golaghat district.
The story of Naga aggression does not end here. Construction of a hospital at B sector by Assam government was stopped by the Nagaland border magistrate on the ground that the area is a disputed one.
Instances of aggression by Nagaland are galore. In the year 2017 at Tengatol Panchmukh under B sector, Nagaland erected RCC house to set up a sub-division there. The then DGP (Border) R M Singh rushed to the spot and observed the situation at that time. He then asked the CRPF to dismantle the construction though till date the house remains intact.
Nagaland has even constructed road through the B sector and also set up gates on the roads leading to Naga villages.
It may be mentioned that the Assam government filed a case before the Supreme Court against the aggression of Nagaland on Assam land in 1988.
On November 28, 1991, Nagaland set up a new sub-division Kohbotu on the disputed land even ignoring the Supreme Court.
Assam government’s nonchalant attitude towards the problems has simply worsened the situation, some locals have claimed.
