The Nagaon District and Sessions Judge Court has directed to start trial on the rape charges against Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain in Nagaon court.
Although the Nagaon Police in a written statement said that a mutual understanding took place between the two parties, the court excluded the report of Nagaon Police.
Earlier, based on a complaint filed by a 24-year-old married woman, the Assam Police registered a case against Rajen Gohain for allegedly raping and threatening her.
The case (No 2592/18) was registered under IPC Sections 417, 376 and 506.
Later on Gohain also filed a complaint alleging the woman and her family of blackmailing him.
However, after a few days of controversy, Gohain claimed that the case against they had a mutual understanding and the case was withdrawn.
