Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi Accuses BJP of Targeting 'Particular Community' Ahead of Final NRC

Guwahati, August 30, 3019:

Nagaon Congress MP, Pradyut Bordoloi on Friday took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying that the BJP party is trying to stop the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and alleged that the leaders of the party are trying to mislead the people.

Addressing the media, Pradyut Bordoloi said, “The Congress wants a free and fair NRC to be published. But the BJP party have been creating chaos ahead of the publication of the final draft of NRC. The BJP leaders are trying to mislead the people. The BJP party has been trying to stop this draft from getting published and even approached the Supreme Court to delay the procedures further."

“They bring up new issues in recent time and have been seen attacking the state coordinator Prateek Hajela. We all know that some technical issues have let to the exclusion of the names of the people which can be corrected. The Congress party urges them not to panic but have patience. The weaker section of the society need not worry, they just need to approach the FTs and our party volunteers will also help in the legal support,” he added.

The Congress leader added, “The BJP party has targeted a particular community based on religion and this has been prevailing from a long time. BJP is maintaining communal politics that is dividing the Hindus and the Muslims. They are trying to mislead the people in the name of the NRC.”
