DHUBRI: On the auspicious day of the birth anniversary of Bharatratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dhubri police organised a cycle rally to celebrated the National Unity Day with a resolve to preserve the unity and integrity of the country.
The cycle rally was taken from Dhubri police reserve ground to Gauripur Ganesh Akhara in collaboration with Dhubri police and Simanta Chetna Manch Purbottar Dhubri Nagar as well as several other volunteers and organisations.
The event was attended by Dhubri District Superintendent of Police Abhijit Gurav and Police Officer-in-charge of Dhubri Sadar police station Partha Pratim Gogoi along with the police personnels of the district.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was also India's first Home Minister, played a crucial role in persuading many princely states to join the Union of India.
Vallabhbhai Patel is known as the "Iron Man of India" because of his efforts toward national unification.
In 2014, the government recognised October 31, his birthday, as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to honor his legacy.
