The National Democratic Front of Boroland, Progressive (NDFB-P) is celebrating its 33rd anniversary today in its designated camps spread across Kokrajhar district of Assam.
It is pertinent to mention here that the NDFB was founded on October 3, 1986, at Odla Kashibari in Udalguri, with the demand for a separate Bodoland. The NDFB(P) has been in ceasefire with the Government since 2005.
The National Democratic Front of Boroland - Progressive meanwhile, has high hopes that the BJP-led NDA government is taking strong measures to resolve the long pending issues of the Bodo community.
Recently, NDFB (P) General Secretary S Sanjarang informed that over 40 rounds of peace talks have been held on the 'Bodoland' statehood issue. He further added that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been intimated about the demands of the organization.
Sanjarang said that the Bodoland statehood demand issue is getting a "positive response" from the centre and, and added that he is hopeful that the issue will be resolved soon.
Meanwhile, the Bodoland Movement Organizations, including the NDFB(P), have intensified the demand for a separate Bodoland after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
