NDFB- S Cadre Nabbed in Assam’s Chirang district

Chirang, October 13, 2019:

The troops of Army unit of Chirang along with Assam Police and CRPF nabbed a Nationalist Democratic Front of Boroland- Saraigwra (NDFB-S) cadre from Chirang district along with arms on Saturday night.

Based on specific intelligence input, a joint operation was launched by the team of Army, Assam Police, and CRPF. Inputs were received that a suspicious person is likely to be in possession of illegal arms.

The team apprehended the suspected person identified as Raju Brahma of Dwimiguri Village in Chirang district.

As per official reports, Raju Brahma is a locally trained cadre of NDFB-S. After interrogation, the team search the accused house and recovered a package covered in plastic from his backyard. The packet contained foreign-made weapons and ammunition which include one foreign-made Single Bore Rifle, ten live rounds of AK47 and a hand grenade.

The weapon and ammunition were subsequently seized by Chirang Police and taken to Panbari Police station along with the person.

He has been taken into police custody for further investigation.
