Gossaigaon, January 22, 2019:

National Democratic Front of Boroland (Saoraigwra) leader M. Batha on Wednesday crossed the border from Myanmar to India, continuing the trend of the outfit's members returning to their homeland. Batha, one of the topmost leaders of the NDFB (S), was welcomed with open arms in Gossaigaon under Kokrajhar district of Assam.

Flanked by hundreds ofsupporters, the dreaded insurgent leader made a dramatic return to Indian soil after a long period of exile, reportedly in Myanmar.

According to our reports, the leader, along with arms, crossed the border along with several other top-ranking officials of the banned outfit. However, another top-leader, G. Bidai, the military Chief of the outfit, is yet to return.

Meanwhile, highly-places sources have informed us that the NDFB (S) militants will sign a peace pact with the Government in Guwahati city of Assam. We have been informed that a period of peace parleys began after the leaders began their return to the Indian mainland, and the agreement will reportedly be signed tomorrow.

It may be mentioned here that the initiative of the banned Saoraigwra faction of the NDFB to start peace process with the Centre assumes significance as the NDFB-S is considered to be the only remaining Bodo insurgent group active in the state.

The Progressive faction of the NDFB has already been in ceasefire with the government since 2005 and participating in the peace talks with the Centre.
