NDFB(S) CADRE KILLED IN ENCOUNTER IN KOKRAJHAR

Security forces have gunned down a militant belonging to the Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in Ranganala of Kokrajhar that shares international boundary with Bhutan. Acting on a tip off, security forces along with Assam police carried out an operation in Ranganala area in the district and killed the NDFB (S) cadre identified as Rekhai Hajowary. It may be mentioned that NDFB (S) has been carrying out extortion activities in the border district of Assam since last month. Meanwhile, security forces also seized a 9mm pistol besides several rounds of live ammunition from the cadre. Security forces have launched a search operation to nab more NDFB cadres from the area.
