North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO) has issued an alert of releasing excess waters of Doyang river from its dam in Wokha district.
NEEPCO sources said excess water has accumulated in its reservoir from catchment areas upstream and may be released any time soon.
It may be mentioned that NEEPCO is currently under fire in Assam’s Golaghat district following allegation that it released excessed waters of Doyang from its dam, leading to floods in many places downstream.
Khumtai Assembly constituency legislator Mrinal Saikia had filed an FIR at Golaghat police station last week, holding NEEPCO’s dam officials responsible for the flood that has left thousands marooned.
