The North East Minority Students Union (NEMSU) has demanded CBI inquiry into alleged INR 540 crores of corruption and anomalies allotted for minority student's welfare fund for northeastern states in last four financial years from the centre government.

Addressing the reporters at a press conference held at Kokrajhar Press Club, NEMSU president Badarul Islam alleged that several hundred crores of minority student's welfare funds were allegedly corrupted without performing any welfare activities among the minority students in the northeast states.

He said that centre government has been releasing several hundred crores every year to facilitate welfare and development services for the minority student communities in the region but the students have been depriving their due rights and welfare in the northeast states due to insincerity attitude from the government itself since five years.

Islam demanded a strict investigation into the Char area development fund where crores of financial anomalies reportedly occurred under the minister of Ranjjt Dutta in the state of Assam.

He has alleged that minority peoples across the state are depriving their democratic development and welfare aspects during the BPF's 17-year rule in BTAD administration.

He also has accused that BPF has failed to work for the welfare of the common masses in the region.

He said that minority peoples are always deprived and neglected in their leading life across the state.

He has urged states to step up Maldive development and welfare activities for bringing the development of the minority peoples across the northeastern states.
