KOKRAJHAR: The Green Field Bodofa Nwgwr in Assam ’s Kokrajhar has been filled with a huge gathering on the occasion of the first BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) accord day celebration today.

Union home minister Amit Shah who is on a two-day trip to Assam and Meghalaya will be attending the grand celebrations as chief guest.

Shah is likely to announce more special packages, disposal of cases involving NDFB leaders, cadres during his visit today.

Shah will be accompanied by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and senior cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In the peace accord, all four factions of NDFB, All Bodo Students' Union and United Bodo People's Organisation signed which was regarded as an inclusive peace accord in the history of political arena in northeastern region.

Since the signing of the BTR accord, several clauses of the accord, including rehabilitation packages to the NDFB cadres, creation of separate directorate for Bodo language and other tribal languages, Bodo language has been accorded associate official language, all deputy commissioners in four districts in BTR etc, have so far been implemented.

BTC chief executive member Pramod Boro said that the BTR accord was an impressive solution   in the Bodo belt. He said the BTR accord brought a parivartan environment among the people of the region.

Boro further added that the BTR administration has organised a grand celebration to mark the first BTR accord day anniversary with a four-day programme from Sunday.

BTC executive member Ranjit Basumatary said people from all sections of the society are looking for a changed  environment through good governance.

He expressed hope that Shah is announcing more developmental packages besides disposal of cases of NDFB cadres as well as Bodoland movement related cases.

"We are hoping that Home Minister Amit Shah's visit will be witnessing an encouraging message in building peaceful and transparent society", Basumatary said.
