The Assam government announced on Saturday that it is going to withdraw some of the non- chargeable services offered to COVID-19 patients.

  • Anyone who wishes to get their RT-PCR report in the government hospitals within 24hours then they will have to pay a chargeable amount of Rs.2200 at the Government hospital/labs where the test has been done.
  • In order to collect plasma for a COVID patient from the government plasma banks to a private hospital/nursing home, an amount of Ra.6000 against the cost of the plasma kit will be charged.
  • The discharged patients will have to make their own arrangements for conveyance while returning home. The government or the hospital will not provide a free vehicle to drop a patient after he or she is discharged. However, the free service will be continued for the inter-district movement of patients after release.
  • The paying cabins which were free for COVID-19 patients at government hospitals will be chargeable. The medicines will, however, continue to be free.
  • Patients have to make their own arrangements of food while being admitted to government hospitals in the coming days.

But the government further informed that it will continue to feed the BPL or poor COVID-19 patients.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary of Assam Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Saturday, 29th of August informed that the state government will be taking strict actions from Monday onwards against people not following COVID-19 protocols such as; wearing masks or face coverings at a public place, follow social distancing.
