Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, who visited Udalguri defying the Home Ministry guidelines on May 28th, 2020, asked the district administration to adhere to the Health Ministry advisories and concentrate on saving human lives.
This was his second visit to the Bodoland Territorial Region within 10 days. On May 19th, 2020, he visited Kokrajhar for a meeting with around 30 different organisations on law and order and COVID-19 situation.
Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had opposed his visit by saying that the Governor should have set an example for the people of the state at this crisis time instead of violating the lockdown guidelines.
Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary had also written a letter to the Home Secretary, Government of India, urging to clarify the lockdown guidelines.

Governor Mukhi underscored the need to bring UdaIguri, an aspirational district, up to the national average and asked the administration to work on a time-bound manner to press for timely implementation for Aspirational District programme.
Chairing a meeting with the administrator of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), IGP, BTAD, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and other Heads of Departments and other security agencies, the Governor Mukhi stressed on pro-active governance and timely implementation of all the government schemes to make the BTC administration people friendly. He further asked the functionaries to make the BTC administration pro-people.

Besides, the Governor said that he would undertake visit to BTAD areas frequently to take cognizance of the implementation of development activities.
Laying adequate emphasis on developing the socio-economic-educational indicators of Udalguri at par with the national average, the Governor asked the Administrator to run the administration assiduously focusing on the welfare schemes of the Prime Minister's flagship programmes to ensure social security of the people.
