Breaking the speculation over joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, the former Assam PWD minister Ajanta Neog on July 7th, 2020 said she would never shift to the saffron party.

“The news related to joining the BJP is fake. I deny it. I’ll never quit Congress and join the saffron party. I had clarified several times earlier also regarding this,” she said while saying that it is a ‘conspiracy’ against her ahead of the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election.

She further appealed the people not to believe in the rumours ciruculated all around.

A section of media reported about her joining the BJP along with some other senior Congress leaders ahead of the Assembly election.

It may be mentioned that in late 2015, there was a rife speculation about her joining in the BJP which was later rejected by her and the Congress party.

It may be mentioned that all the political parties have pulled their socks up to give a tough fight in the ensuing election. Eyeing to form the government for the second consecutive time, the BJP has already started its campaign strategically.

The Congress has also been seen taking the current issues including the hike in prices of petrol and diesel and the essential commodities among the people striving to highlight the failures of the BJP government amid the crisis caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Meanwhile, the BJP-led state government has been strongly criticised for its new land policy through which it tried to convert the agricultural land to non-agricultural land. People from all section demanded to withdraw the ordinance immediately.

The BJP government has also been criticized by the Congress over the Indo-China stand-off at Galwan valley where around 20 Indian soldiers were martyred.
