Guwahati, February 14, 2019:

The ‘jatiya nayak’ of Northeast, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has arrived in Guwahati amid much fanfare. Is it mere coincidence that the leader who has made his way into the hearts of the entire state has landed in Guwahati on Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated as the day of love?

The NPP President Sangma, who has largely been credited for stalling the Citizenship (Amendment) 2016 by bringing the political leaders of the Northeast under a single banner to oppose it, has made a stop in Guwahati first before moving to Meghalaya capital Shillong.

AGP and Congress members thronged the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport in Guwahati to welcome the ‘hero’ with open arms.

In the recent weeks, Sangma has attained iconic status as a ‘northeast hero’ for his contribution in stopping the Bill from being passed in the Rajya Sabha as he rushed to Delhi not once, twice but thrice to hold discussions with numerous leaders of national significance to hold talks over the issue.
