As the world rings in the new year ‘2020’, the political leaders of Northeast India have sent out their warm wishes for the people via social media.

All the Chief Ministers of the Northeastern states took to their official social media handles to spread warmth and good cheer on the occasion of New Year.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal shared a video on his official Twitter handle and wished, “সকলোলৈ ইংৰাজী নৱবৰ্ষৰ আন্তৰিক প্ৰীতি আৰু শুভেচ্ছা জ্ঞাপন কৰিছোঁ। আহক, আমি সকলোৱে ঐক্যবদ্ধ প্ৰচেষ্টাৰে শান্তি, সম্প্ৰীতি আৰু ভাতৃত্ববোধেৰে পৰিপূৰ্ণ এখন সমাজ গঢ় দিওঁ। Wishing all a #HappyNewYear. (Let us together build a society on the ideals of peace, brotherhood and harmony.”)

North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma also took to his official Twitter handle and tweeted, “Always humbling to have your love and affection.-- As we begin countdown for a new year, I thank each one of you for standing besides me. You are my strength, my inspiration!-- #AssamAlwaysAhead has been my mantra, and the #PeaceAndProgress March was a loud assertion of it.”

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma wished the people with the words, “As we welcome the New Year let us remember to be grateful for the lessons and blessings we encountered this past year. Let us begin this decade with hope for a brighter future, one where we can work together for the peace and prosperity of our country. #HappyNewYear 2020.”

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu wished, "A very happy new year to all! The end of the year is a good time to reflect on how far we have come and to plan for better future that lies ahead. It is also time to forego our differences and celebrate new possibilities. #HappyNewYear #HappyNewYear2020"

Wishing the people, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio tweeted, “As we count down to the #NewYear we get to reflect & prepare for what’s ahead. May #NewYear2020 bring happiness & prosperity. May it also bring blessings of turning our dreams into reality & efforts into achievements. Wishing everyone a meaningful, peaceful & purposeful #2020NewYear”

Chief Minister of Sikkim, PS Golay also extended his greetings to the people and tweeted, “Extending best wishes and warm regards for New Year 2020 from the state of Sikkim. May the year bring us all joy, good health and prosperity.”

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also wished the people through his official Twitter handle, stating, "I believe 2020 will be a year of renewed hope and confidence in our ability to face & overcome challenges, as we continue move on the road to greater progress.-- I wish every one a VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.”

Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb also tweeted, “May this new year bring you much joy and prosperity. -- May God's grace always shine on you and your family. Wishing you all good health and great success. -- Happy New Year 2020 !”

Sharing a video ahead of the Christmas, Zoramthanga wished the people, “My Christmas and New Year message to the people of Mizoram and everyone seeing this tweet. May this season brings unending Joy, Peace and Love to everyone.”
