President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Asaduddin Owaisi has once again voiced against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) that was published on August 31.
Reacting to a tweet by Guwahati based lawyer, Aman Wadud, "The govt of India and govt of Assam through Foreigners Tribunal and Citizenship Amendment Bill is going to take care of Hindu migrants" says the most powerful man in Assam. So now it's on record that Foreigners Tribunal can be politically influenced?”
Owaisi said, “This is an open admission of how #NRCassam was being used to exclude Muslims. After putting undocumented people through such an arduous process, @himantabiswa says that, by hook or crook, Hindus will be protected. Citizenship CANNOT be given or withdrawn on the basis of faith."

It is to be mentioned that earlier on the day of publication of the NRC final draft on August 31, Owaisi lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying it should learn some lessons from what has happened in the northeastern state after the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Asaduddin Owaisi also said that the BJP should stop calling for such exercise throughout the country.
Referring to the exclusion of over 19 lakh people from the final draft of NRC, Owaisi added, “BJP should learn a lesson. They should stop asking for NRC throughout the country in terms of Hindus and Muslims. They should learn from what has happened in Assam. The so-called myth of illegal migrants has been busted.”
